LC-OMEGA SCAN: Untargeted Lipid Metabolites
Our LC-OMEGA platform consists of a reverse phase column with ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography (UPLC) combined with a high-resolution high sensitivity mass spectrometer (QExactive Plus). Whereas many a metabolomics lab will use reverse phase chromatography for both hydrophilic and hydrophobic metabolites, HMT separates the two types of metabolites by optimizing for polar metabolites by using our CEMS based OMEGA Scan and optimizing for lipophilic metabolites using our LC-OMEGA Scan. This allows HMT to create an unique UPLC-MS platform for high-resolution separation of lipid metabolites covering many classes of compounds including long chain acyl carnitines and fatty acids, bile acids, polyphenols, terpenes, lipo-amino acids, carotenoids and much more. LC-OMEGA is typically used for biomarker discovery in human plasma, as well as, to determine metabolite compositions in fruit, berry, fungi and meat cells. The advanced option of LC-OMEGA allows HMT to discover novel lipids not in our data base expanding our data output.
