Assessing Sample Quality for Metabolomics Analysis

Register for the Live Webinar!
Sample quality, although important, seems to be missing from much of the analysis we see in the literature. Biological samples, Cells, blood, urine and tissues, are susceptible to degradation and contamination. Sample quality can influence the results of analysis to a significant extent if not identified. Quality issues may include individual samples or groups of samples. In this talk, our second Webinar of this series, we will discuss how to look for sample quality issues in biological samples and how to prevent them.

The Art of Interpreting Metabolomics Data

Watch the on demand webinar!
“Not your usual talk – lets discuss manual curation of metabolomics data” In 1975 I was introduced to my first mass spectrometer under the direction of Professor Don Hunt at the University of Virginia performing what is now called biological mass spectrometry and peptide sequencing. Manual curation was the only option we had back then to compare protein sequences and perform any biological interpretation. 50 years later our options have changed. However, I still perform manual curation on every data set. Join me while I discuss my processes and thoughts on how I approach metabolomics data in today’s application rich, overwhelming information and AI world. While these tools and databases have become immensely helpful, they are incomplete to develop testable hypotheses and deep understanding of complex omics data. This is not your usual metabolomics talk where I will go over tools and applications, but instead over concepts, thoughts, questions and problem-solving solutions to interpretation.
