Untargeted CE-MS Platform

OMEGA Scan — Unmatched resolution
covering polar metabolite space

The most sensitive and selective CE-MS metabolomics platform available — delivering 7 orders of magnitude dynamic range across the polar metabolite space, with the isomer resolution that LC-MS cannot match.

OMEGA Scan is HMT's signature CE-MS platform — built on Capillary Electrophoresis-Mass Spectrometry and optimised for the comprehensive profiling of polar, hydrophilic, and charged metabolites from any biological source. CE separates metabolites based on their size and physical properties, providing up to 20× the separation power of conventional LC methods for this metabolite class.

OMEGA Scan delivers 7 orders of magnitude dynamic range, enabling simultaneous detection of both highly abundant and trace-level metabolites in the same run — a critical advantage for biomarker discovery in complex biological matrices.

CE-MS provides resolution that LC-MS cannot replicate for polar and charged metabolites. OMEGA Scan routinely resolves structural isomers and positional isomers that co-elute and remain indistinguishable on standard HPLC columns — including sugar phosphates (glucose-1-phosphate vs glucose-3-phosphate), nucleotide isomers, and organic acid pairs that are critical to accurate pathway interpretation.

HMT can provide isomer resolution examples upon request for your specific metabolites of interest.

The OMEGA Scan Advanced option extends beyond the annotated library to provide unannotated spectral features and tentatively assigned metabolites, including small peptides in the mass 100–1,000 range (2-mers to 5-mers). The OMEGA Search pipeline guides researchers through identification and validation of novel metabolites not catalogued in any public database.

OMEGA Scan data can be aligned against HMT's Virtual Human Database — a reference metabolomic profile assembled from healthy human subjects. This enables direct benchmarking of your study cohort against population norms, facilitating rapid identification of disease-associated metabolic deviations and supporting biomarker validation.

Every OMEGA Scan study includes: annotated metabolite list with peak area data, pathway maps, PCA and HCA statistical analysis, and a biochemist interpretation report. The Advanced option adds unannotated features and access to the OMEGA Search pipeline. Follow-up discussion with an HMT scientist is standard.
