Our study reports include not only raw data but also supportive information assisting your understanding of observed metabolic changes. Further, experienced biochemist will support data interpretation by follow up discussions.
Plasma Biomarkers | Our CEMS and LCMS platforms combined with MSCAN and Q353 provide an extensive and comprehensive profiling of human plasma and serum, widely used to profile human plasma for clinical studies.
Cellular Metabolism | OMEGA scan provides a deep profile of cellular metabolites from cancer cells, bacteria, fungi, plants, meat cells along with individualized pathway mapping.
Pathway Analysis | With over 100 unique pathway maps for prokaryote and eukaryote studies, our scientists will help develop data interpretation and biological context. Metabolites can have many roles and connect to many pathways acting as reactants, products, signaling, ligands, osmolytes or chelators. Metabolites can be endogenous, from microbiome or part of our exposome. Circulating metabolites can be from our gut, organs, tissues or diet. At HMT we will help and learn together how to advance metabolomics and decipher our metabolomic code.
Combined Platforms
No one metabolomics method can possibly cover the wide range of metabolites no matter the source; biofluids, tissues, plants, cells. We have several different methods optimized to cover different metabolite classes. These methods can be combined to increase coverage in plasma, tissues, plants and any other sample type.
Untargeted Polar Metabolites – OMEGA Scan
Our signature platform OMEGA Scan is based on Capillary Electrophoresis – Mass Spectrometry (CE-MS) best for measuring polar, semi-volatile, hydrophilic, charged metabolites from any source.
Untargeted Lipid Metabolites LC-OMEGA
HPLC-MS methods are the basic of many a metabolomics lab. Our LC-OMEGA platform focuses on lipophilic metabolites using high resolution chromatography and high-resolution high sensitivity FTMS.
Targeted 400 Lipid Mediators – MSCAN
Mediator scan targets 400 bioactive lipids including oxylipins, OMEGA fatty acids, inflammatory lipids (HETEs), EPA, DHA, corticosteroids, lysophospholipids and many more. Commonly used to study inflammation and immune response in humans and animals. In addition, MSCAN covers middle to very long chain acyl carnitines. While MSCAN is non-quantitative, HMT can create quantitative assays for individual lipids upon request.
D/L Amino Acids
Unique to HMT, this targeted panel consists of 25 D and L amino acids. D and L configurations do not resolve in typical metabolomic chromatography separations using UPLC or Capillary electrophoresis. In our D/L panel, amino acids are derivatized with a ligand with an optical center that allows, with our chromatography method, to separate and identify these D and L isomers.
Quantitative Polar Panels C-SCOPE Q110 Q353
C-SCOPE, Q110 and Q353 panels consist of targeted 116. 110 or 353 respectively polar metabolites representing a wide range of metabolite classes. While C-SCOPE is most often used as a stand-alone to measure glycolysis in cells, the Q110 and Q353 panels are most often used with untargeted metabolomics such as OMEGA Scan.
Targeted Glycolytic Panel- C-SCOPE
C-SCOPE consists of a targeted quantitative panel of 116 metabolites in the glycolytic pathway including the pentose phosphate pathway, TCA cycle, amino acids and urea cycle. Typically used to study cancer, Warburg effect and mitochondrial metabolism.
Targeted Flux Panel – FSCOPE
F-SCOPE targets 54 polar metabolites in the glycolytic pathway, TCA cycle, purines and pyrimidines, urea cycle and amino acids to measure C13 and N15 heavy atom labeled metabolite transformations. This platform is typically used for in-vivo measurements of glucose oxidation and glutamine metabolism and is expandable to include client specific metabolites.
Fit-4 Purpose Assays
HMT has a full-service lab available for quantitative assays using various forms of capillary electrophoresis and liquid chromatography mass spectrometry. Assays can be validated for research or clinical use.
Sample Quality Analysis
Though not a specific platform, HMT data assessment starts with a process to evaluate sample stability. Known markers for thermal degradation, hemolysis, platelet contamination and long-term storage are used to survey biofluids and tissues prior to statistical analysis.
Tryptophan Metabolism
The Tryptophan pathway has received increasing attention as its connection to inflammation, the immune system and neurological conditions. HMTs' Tryptophan platform is a targeted platform of the tryptophan pathway.
Low-Cost Options Basic Scan Dual Scan
We offer lower cost options using Agilent CE-TOFMS system. Ideal for those interested in high abundant metabolites in plant extracts, agricultural products, supernatants, fermentation broths and more, where high sensitivity and broad class coverage is not required for metabolomic analysis. Dual Scan includes profiling both polar and lipid metabolites.
Amino Acid Analysis of free amino acids
Free amino acids contribute to taste and provide carbon and nitrogen for many biological functions including antioxidants and ATP synthesis. The HMT platform measure all 20 common amino acids including citrulline and ornithine.
